The giant golden-crowned flying fox (Acerodon jubatus), also known as the golden-capped fruit bat, is a rare megabat and one of the largest bats in the world.The species is endangered and is currently facing the possibility of extinction because of poaching and forest destruction. It is endemic to forests in the Philippines. 

The giant golden-crowned flying fox is primarily nocturnal, and can travel at least 40 km (25 mi) in one night searching for food. This bat is a pollinator and seed disperser for many fruit trees in the Philippines. It uses water for grooming.

They eat primarily figs, though will take other fruit if figs are unavailable. They have been reported to eat cultivated fruit, but this is relatively rare. Other fruits that may be eaten include: puhutan, lamio, tangisang, bayawak, bankal and strangler figs. Known as “The Silent Planter”,they release seeds in their droppings, often while flying. This helps maintain the Philippine rainforest.

     El gigante de oro coronado de zorro volador (Acerodon jubatus), también conocido como el murciélago de la fruta de oro con tapa, es un megabat raro y una de las mayores especies de murciélagos en el mundo.El está en peligro y se enfrenta actualmente la posibilidad de extinción debido a la la caza furtiva y la destrucción de los bosques. Es endémica de los bosques en las Filipinas.

     El gigante de oro coronado de zorro volador es principalmente nocturna, y puede viajar por lo menos 40 km (25 millas) en la búsqueda de una noche para la comida. Este murciélago es un polinizador y dispersor de semillas de muchos árboles frutales en las Filipinas. Se utiliza el agua para el aseo.

     Se alimentan principalmente higos, aunque tendrá otra fruta, si las figuras no están disponibles. Se han descrito para comer fruta cultivada, pero esto es relativamente rara. Otras frutas que se pueden comer son: puhutan, lamio, tangisang, bayawak, Bankal e higos estranguladores. Conocida como “La Jardinera de Paz”, que liberan semillas en sus excrementos, a menudo durante el vuelo. Esto ayuda a mantener la selva filipina.
